Van Centre:
Even with comprehensive motor insurance you may find that you lose out financially if your van is stolen or written off in an accident.
This is because your insurer will generally offer you a ‘total-loss’ payment based on the current market value of your van. That could be less than either the original cash price of your Volkswagen Van, or the sum you still owe under a finance agreement.
GAP Insurance could give you an additional payment on top of your insurance payout to help get you a brand new van in the event of your Volkswagen Van being stolen or written off in an accident.
There are two types of GAP Insurance available to you:
GAP (Shortfall Protection).
This covers the difference between the amount your insurance company will pay and what you actually owe
under your Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle Finance agreement. A payment of up to £10,000 could be made.
GAP Plus (Return to Invoice).
This covers the difference between the amount your insurance company will pay and the actual amount that
you paid for your Volkswagen van. A payment of up to £15,000 could be made, which will help you replace
your old van with a new one that will be the same or similar model to the one that you lost.
Both of these payments will apply on top of your insurance claim settlement and you can get them for both new and used Volkswagen vans.
How can I take out GAP Insurance cover?
Just ask for an application form from the Van Centre where you bought your van. You make a single
payment or up to three years cover with the GAP Plus option or five years cover with the GAP option.
You must also have a comprehensive insurance policy in place for the whole time that the cover applies.
